Free Random Password Generator — Create Strong Passwords Instantly

Jun 23, 2026

Using the same password across multiple sites is one of the most common reasons accounts get compromised. When a database is breached, attackers take the leaked credentials and try them on every major platform — a technique called credential stuffing. The fix is simple but requires a tool: a unique, random, complex password for every site. That's exactly what this generator does.

Pick your length and character options — uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols — and get a strong random password instantly. Everything happens in your browser. Free, no sign-up.

What Makes a Password Secure?

A strong password checks all four boxes below. Missing any one of them creates a real vulnerability.

  • At least 12 characters — Modern computers can brute-force an 8-character password in hours. At 12 characters the difficulty jumps dramatically; at 16+ it becomes practically infeasible even with dedicated hardware.
  • Mixed character types — Combining uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols multiplies the search space exponentially. A 12-character password using all four types has roughly 94¹² possible combinations versus 26¹² for lowercase only.
  • No dictionary words or personal info — Dictionary attacks test millions of common words, names, and date patterns first. Avoid anything that appears in a dictionary, your name, birthday, or pet's name.
  • Unique per site — If one service is breached, only that account should be at risk. Never reuse a password across different sites.

How to Create a Strong Password — 2 Steps

  1. Configure options — Open the password generator, set the length to at least 16 characters, and enable all character types. If a site does not allow symbols, simply turn that option off and add a few extra characters to compensate.
  2. Copy and save immediately — Copy the generated password directly into a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, Apple Keychain, etc.). Do not save it in a notes app, chat, or email.

Security Tips to Keep in Mind

  • Generated in your browser — never sent to a server — FreeSign's password generator runs entirely client-side. The password is never transmitted to or stored on any server.
  • Use a password manager — Memorizing a unique 20-character password for every site is not realistic. A password manager like Bitwarden (free, open-source), Apple Keychain, or 1Password lets you remember just one master password for everything else.
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) — Even if a password leaks, 2FA stops attackers from accessing your account. Enable it on every important account, starting with email and banking.
  • Check for breaches instead of rotating on a schedule — Arbitrary periodic password changes are less useful than knowing when your credentials have actually been exposed. Use HaveIBeenPwned to check your email, and change passwords only when a breach is confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the generated password stored anywhere?
No. Password generation happens entirely in your browser and is never sent to or saved on any server. Copy the result directly into your password manager.

Q. How does the strength indicator work?
It evaluates length, character variety (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols), and pattern diversity, then rates the password on a five-point scale from Very Weak to Very Strong. Using all four character types at 12+ characters typically yields a Very Strong rating.

Q. What if the site does not allow special characters?
Turn off the symbols option and increase the length instead. A 20-character password made of uppercase, lowercase, and numbers is still extremely strong.

Q. How often should I change my password?
Changing on a fixed schedule matters less than using a unique password per site. When a service you use announces a data breach, change that password immediately. Otherwise, focus on making passwords long and unique rather than rotating them.
